Last Friday, November 15, 2024, the Universal Service Fund (USF) had the distinct pleasure of launching a new Community Wi-Fi site in Mullet Hall, Portland Western, the constituency of The Hon. Daryl Vaz. Despite the rain making its presence known, the event was a resounding success, demonstrating the unwavering spirit and enthusiasm of the local community.
Even though the weather tried its best to dampen spirits, it couldn’t stop the excitement of residents who gathered in large numbers, eager to experience the new internet connectivity being introduced to their area. The launch of this Wi-Fi site is not just about access to the internet; it’s about connecting people to opportunities, information, and a more inclusive digital future.
This new hotspot is a part of the USF’s ongoing commitment to bridging the digital divide across Jamaica. By increasing access to reliable and affordable internet in underserved areas, we are empowering individuals and fostering a sense of community engagement and development. Mullet Hall now joins the growing list of communities benefiting from this initiative, and we are excited to see what more is to come.
The USF continues to drive positive change, one hotspot at a time. The successful launch of this Wi-Fi site is just the beginning, and we look forward to expanding our efforts to ensure that no community is left behind in Jamaica’s digital transformation.
